5. Andrés Reisinger’s Virtual Design

An NFT of the first tweet ever posted on Twitter was struggling to attract bidders on Thursday, with the highest offer so far just shy of $10,000 -- a year after it was bought for $2.9 million.

The famed inaugural Twitter message published by co-founder Jack Dorsey seemed poised for an epic fail, possibly signaling diminishing interest in non-fungible tokens (NFTs) hawked by athletes, artists, celebrities, and tech stars.

It has been on the auction table at NFT marketplace OpenSea for more than a week. According to the website, the best offer was in the cryptocurrency Ether, which is currently worth slightly under $10,000.

Sina Estavi, a Malaysian entrepreneur, purchased the tweet as an authenticated virtual object known as an NFT for $2.9 million early last year, but placed it up for auction last week in the hopes of raising $48 million and donating a huge sum of money to charity.
